Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

Lead a team of officers to deliver effective action plans and campaigns aimed at improving participation in waste management services and improving waste behaviour of the people of Aberdeen, including residents, businesses, third sector and others to achieve a reduction in waste and increase in recycling and diversion. Manage and implement the communications plan for the Waste & Recycling team and ensure strong links with partners are developed and maintained. Oversee the trade service for waste and recycling

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Full UK driver’s licence

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • Developing and managing communication plans
  • Managing/ coordinating projects and financial impacts
  • Managing and leading staff and project teams
  • Procurement experience/knowledge
  • Working as part of a team
  • Change management
  • Creative solutions to problems and to improving performance.
  • Use of IT packages
  • Presentation skills

  • Organising work schedules and monitoring budgets
  • Building relationships and positively influencing stakeholders.
