Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

As a Team Manager within Children in Need, you will be responsible for providing dynamic, driven and clear leadership to the team and provide mentoring, guidance, and support to the workforce. The postholder will positively influence and motivate staff, provide reflective and clear practice supervision and through support and guidance to team members, will be able to ensure that the right conditions are created to enable the team to deliver highest standard of social work interventions. The postholder will be accountable for all work allocated to the team and will ensure that ensure that planning is highly evidenced and suited to the individual needs of the child. You will effectively assess needs and plan and deliver focused interventions to safeguard children and create an environment where each child, young person and family is enabled to maximise their potential. You will contribute to the delivery of key operational priorities and be able to meaningfully engage with multi-agency partners through clear leadership.

We are looking for passionate team manger to join our supportive Children and Families Team Don Four. This teams cover the central area of Aberdeen and works closely with the Associated Schools Group based in St Machar. You will be supported by team manager colleagues to support the work of social workers in carry out their statutory duties with children, young people and their families. This includes Looked After children, children subject to child protection registration, as well as working within the legal framework of the Children’s Hearing system. The team has an established staff group, with a clear focus on learning and development and trauma informed practice. The team is made up of: 1 senior practitioner, 4 social workers, 1 child practitioner and a unit co-ordinator (UC).

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • BA in Social Work or equivalent i.e., Dip SW/CQSW
  • A minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience working in a statutory children in need team
  • PVG
  • SSSC registration

 

  • The post holder will be expected to:
  • Work in accordance with Adult, Child and Public Protection principles and procedures
  • Maintain SSSC registration and maintain requirements as stipulated in terms of workforce regulation.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the Social Work Code of Practice, SSSC Code of Practice, council Policy and Procedures and all relevant Legislation.

  • The ability to lead a social work team who fulfil the lead professional function and enable that team to lead multi agency planning around children and young people who are considered to be at risk of significant harm
  • The ability to communicate effectively with children, young people and their families.
  • The ability to create and sustain the conditions within which social workers can deliver effective social work practice
  • Communicate with staff and stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes.
  • The ability to lead and support practice change into operational practice and service delivery, including identifying training needs of staff to ensure continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work proactively, to participate in and show effective leadership with regard to team and service planning.
