Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
Job purpose/about the role
Line manage small team of PPDOs, Development work for services as required.
Key tasks include, but are not exhaustive:
- Lead on audits and quality assurance activity across the service
- Report writing to present data, identify trends and forecast future need
- Presentation of analysis to strategic forums including Child Protection Committee and Children’s Services Board
- Support the work of the Children’s Services Management Team (CSMT)
- Extracting, analysing and interpreting complex datasets to inform service development and performance reporting
- Coordinating responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
- Supporting the service to respond appropriately to the evolving use of AI in a safe and proportionate way
- Ensuring electronic recording systems are effectively utilised and responsive to service needs
To be provided prior to advertising
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
- Relevant Social Work qualification (i.e. BA in SW, DIP.SW, CSS, CQSW or equivalent)
- Post qualifying experience working with children and families
- Working directly with young people and/or adults
- Experience in leadership, management and supervision
- SSSC Registration
- PVG for children and vulnerable adults
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
- Ensure the promotion and compliance with statutory, policy and procedural requirement
- Promote equalities, human rights, health and safety and service user involvement
- Provide strategic leadership across multi-agency partnerships, including social work, wider council services and third sector partners, to support coordinated planning, service delivery and improvement
- Ability to manage competing demands arising from national policy, inspection activity, senior leadership priorities and partnership requirements.
- Adhere to the requirements of the Social Work Code of Practice, SSSC Code of Practice, Council Policy and Procedures and all relevant legislation
- Travel as required in relation to the needs of the service
- Work at alternative locations as required
