Job Description
Internal vacancy – applications for this post will only be accepted from current employees of Aberdeenshire Council (this includes relief staff and agency staff who are currently undertaking work with us).
Passionate about libraries and people? We’re looking for an ambitious Area Librarian to help shape the future of library services across Central Aberdeenshire - working collaboratively, leading teams and putting communities at the heart of everything we do.
You will play a leading role in shaping and supporting quality library services, building partnerships and helping deliver vibrant, accessible library services that respond to local need and inspire participation at every stage of life. You will be one of four Area Librarians who work together to deliver services across the local authority, with line management responsibility across several library venues.
Other key tasks include performance monitoring, evaluation and impact analysis; supporting LLA service-wide initiatives to grow participation; and collaboration with local and national organisations and partners to ensure our services are accessible, innovative, effectively resourced and respond to community need.
You will report directly to the Library Development Coordinator and play a vital role in delivering our vision for modern, welcoming and inspiring library services.
The deadline for applications is midnight Wednesday 8th April 2026.
