Children's Support Co-ordinator

Job Description

This postholder will work directly with children, young people and their families/carers who are impacted by disability. Their role is to carry out holistic, outcome focussed assessments that inform enabling packages of support for the families based upon their level of need.

They will work to maximise quality of life and independence through enabling participation in community life through these packages as well as the development and coordination of information systems and resources to support families more generally.

The post is based at Inverurie Family Resource Centre, where the Social Work team for Children and Families sit. The team covers the local catchment area around the Garioch community encompassing five local Primary Schools including St Andrew’s school for children with additional support needs and the local Academy’s. The team also cover the rural community schools in central Aberdeenshire. The post involves visits to families at home therefore applicants must hold a current full driving license and have access to a car.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of these must be your current or most recent employer.
