Job Description
Internal vacancy – applications for this post will only be accepted from current employees of Aberdeenshire Council (this includes relief staff and agency staff who are currently undertaking work with us).
Passionate about developing retail, hospitality and venue hire as part of a standout visitor experience in the heritage sector? We’re looking for a Commercial & Customer Services Officer to help shape the future delivery of our ambitious plans for cultural provision in Aberdeenshire.
This opportunity would suit a creative, forward-thinking and commercially aware team player who can balance income generation, revenue model, and excellent visitor experience aligned to the values of our Museums Service at an exciting time of development.
Key tasks include the efficient and productive delivery of the Service’s front of house operations. This currently includes visitor and schools engagement, audience development, activities and venue hire. You will be responsible for embedding an inclusive and welcoming environment with excellent customer service, supported by a front of house team who you will line manage.
As part of our commitment to a new museum of Aberdeenshire, the post holder will develop and grow retail and merchandising, commercial packages, group experiences and private hires, some of which will involve collaboration with an onsite caterer. Operational responsibilities include EPOS/ticketing; stock sourcing, procurement and control; pricing and budgeting; FCR target setting; monitoring, evaluation and analysis reporting.
As a key member of the Museums Team based at HQ in Mintlaw, the post holder will be line managed by the Museums Development Coordinator.
If you are a good communicator with operational experiences showing clear links to the remit of this post and within a cultural sector or visitor attraction setting, we want to hear from you.
The deadline for applications is midnight 14 April 2026.
