Job Description

Help shape the next stage of Family Group Decision Making in Aberdeenshire.

Over the last three years, Aberdeenshire’s Family Group Decision Making Service has become established across Children’s Services. We are now expanding, creating an exciting opportunity for 3 new Co-ordinators to join the team.

This is an important step in making family-led decision making the first intervention for families wherever possible, with children’s rights at the heart of everything we do. FGDM gives children and families a personalised, strengths-based way to come together, talk about worries, build on what is working well and create their own family plan.

Why Join Us?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a committed team at a key point in the service’s development. Your work will help children and families feel listened to, respected and supported to find their own solutions.

If you are passionate about children’s rights, relationship-based practice and empowering families to lead change in their own lives, then this is the job for you.

PLEASE NOTE – the office hub for the service is in Kintore. Your work with families will require travel throughout the whole of Aberdeenshire.

The role involves significant amounts of travel and lone working, both of which you will need to be comfortable with.

In addition, you may be required to visit families out with normal working hours if required.

Expected interview date is 23/07/2026

This is a fixed term position for a period not exceeding 01/09/2029

Informal enquiries to Jane Livingston - 01467 535578

Responsibilities

As a Family Group Decision Making Co-ordinator, you will work alongside children, young people, parents, carers, extended family members and professionals to support families through the FGDM process. This role is ideal for someone who believes in the capacity of families to find their own solutions, can build trusting relationships, and is confident in facilitating sensitive conversations in a calm, inclusive and purposeful way.
