Job Description

This role provides professional, competent and practical health and safety advice and support across Aberdeenshire Council services. The postholder will work with a wide range of operational environments including schools, offices, health and social care settings such as care homes and very sheltered housing complexes, and Environment and Infrastructure Services covering roads and infrastructure, landscape and grounds maintenance, waste services and the Council wide Fleet service.

Operating within a large, diverse and predominantly rural local authority, the role requires an adaptable and proportionate approach to health and safety management, recognising the differing risk profiles, geographic challenges and service delivery models across the organisation.

The post sits within a wider multi disciplinary team of health, safety and wellbeing professionals whose priority is to support the Council to keep employees, service users and the public safe and well. Working collaboratively with managers and staff at all levels, the Health and Safety Advisor will support compliance with statutory duties, promote good practice, and enable services to manage risks effectively while delivering high quality public services.

Fire Safety qualifications and experience in advising on Fire Safety issues would be an advantage.

This post will involve travel to Aberdeenshire Council sites across the area and benefits from flexible working, including working from home.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
