Job Description

Situated in the Northeast of Scotland, Aberdeenshire is a beautiful and historic region, encapsulating the rugged mountains of the Cairngorms and breath-taking coastal scenery. The wider Aberdeen City and Shire Region boasts a number of excellent facilities including world renowned golf courses, a top league football team, the stunning river Dee and river Don, excellent transport links (including proximity to Aberdeen International Airport and Aberdeen Harbour and ferry terminal), a range of local and regional shops as well as the breath-taking scenery of the hills. In fact the area has something for everyone.

One of the most dynamic and unique regions of the country, Aberdeenshire is a great place to live, work and visit. We believe we have something to offer people of all ages - a quality of life which is hard to find elsewhere.

These post provides an excellent opportunity to join the Place Information and Delivery team within the Planning & Economy Service to assist and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality planning service within Aberdeenshire.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and highly organised individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be educated to degree level or working towards an appropriate degree in Town and Country Planning, or equivalent that allows further study in a post graduate RTPI recognised planning course and eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

The role of Planner represents an opportunity to work as part of the Delivery team providing a service within Aberdeenshire. The Delivery team helps make the Local Development Plan happen by coordinating projects, data, land audits, and stakeholders to ensure the right development occurs in the right place at the right time.

A flexible "blended" approach to working is currently used with some home working practices developed during the Covid pandemic and extensive use of technology sitting alongside office based working, a requirement to undertake site visits, and attend offices for team collaborative working and meetings and training events as necessary. This flexible “blended” approach to working is likely to continue as the Service remains committed to working within an enhanced digital environment.

This post is part of a Career Development Scheme, Salary scale placement is dependent on qualifications and experience.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Fixed term for a period not exceeding 31/03/2027
