Job Description
You will enjoy the challenge of being part of a dedicated planning enforcement team with a focus on delivering the planning enforcement function across Aberdeenshire. The post will provide an opportunity to work on a wide range of planning enforcement cases, both in an urban and rural environment. The post has arisen due to retirement.
The role of Planning Enforcement Officer provides an opportunity for you to make a positive contribution to safeguarding the character and appearance of Aberdeenshire. This is a key role that includes investigating complaints and contraventions of planning control, as well as enforcing advertisement and listed building controls.
You should have good communication and negotiation skills and the ability to demonstrate that you can organise and manage your own work tasks with limited supervision. The ability to deal effectively but diplomatically with people, often in difficult situations is also essential. You can also understand and interpret plans and drawings associated with planning applications. You will have experience in planning enforcement, planning or an enforcement environment. You will also have the ability to travel throughout the Aberdeenshire Area.
Location: The team work remotely (from home) and cover Aberdeenshire. A flexible/hybrid arrangement is the norm as the Service remains committed to working within an enhanced digital environment. This will involve flexible home/office working with undertaking site visits, attending offices for team meetings, and training events as necessary.
