Job Description
Fraserburgh Academy is seeking an experienced teacher to join our Flexible Pathways team on a fixed term basis until Jul 2027. You will be a teacher who has developed excellent relationship building skills and has a recognised knowledge, understanding and skillset for working 1-2-1 or with small groups of young people who have challenging contexts, adverse childhood experiences and other factors that can make mainstream education hard to access. You will be experienced in making curriculum pathways that match the interests and needs of specific young people in your care, and ready to pick up new skills and qualifications to light up young people who may be at risk of leaving school with few qualifications. You will be joining a growing team of a specialised Depute Rector, Principal Teacher and Support staff who are driven to develop the wellbeing, attendance, attainment and destinations of a targeted group of students. This ground breaking team aspire to develop a sector leading provision that is recognised for matching their system to the community they serve.
Candidates in substantive posts in ASL depts, or subject specialists are welcome to apply as secondments, in addition, this post could be also be an ideal match for a Primary specialist teacher who recognises their skillsets in the above description. All candidates would need to be ready to provide qualifications up to 4th level. Ongoing training will be provided in areas such as verification, assessment, and other qualification specific skills and capabilities. As the job title suggests, this role is built on flexibility and so the successful applicant would be someone ready to meet each day and each student with a fresh plan and innovative provision.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Requirements
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered. If you qualified as a Teacher out with Scotland, please visit GTCS – Qualified Outside Scotland and review the GTCS FAQs for more information around obtaining registration with the General Teaching Council Scotland.
Please note that the grade for this position may be subject to change. Promoted Teaching Posts that meet the criteria will be resized on an annual basis, in line with the SNCT Handbook. Any grade change will be effective from 1st August each year.
