Aquarium Assistant

Do you have a passion for marine life, excellent customer service skills and enjoy working with people of all ages? We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Aquarium Assistant to join our team at Macduff Aquarium.

This varied and rewarding role combines visitor engagement, animal care, retail duties and educational support. You will play a key role in creating memorable experiences for our visitors while helping to maintain the highest standards of animal welfare and aquarium operations.

The role involves welcoming visitors, processing admissions and retail sales, providing information on exhibits and marine life, supporting school groups, assisting with animal husbandry and exhibit care, and helping to ensure the safety of visitors.

The successful candidate will have a good general education including Biology (or equivalent), experience working with the public in a customer-facing environment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a friendly, adaptable approach. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential. Knowledge of marine life, SCUBA diving qualifications and retail experience are advantageous. This is a permanent, annualised-hours contract of 31.25 hours per week and the role includes flexible working, weekends and bank holidays.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
