Job Description

Based at - Monikie Country Park, Monikie, Dundee

ANGUSalive is seeking an enthusiastic Countryside Ranger to help protect, enhance and promote the natural heritage of Angus. In this role you will inspire people to enjoy the outdoors responsibly by promoting the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Share guidance of local walks, safety and the area’s natural and cultural history. You will also deliver engaging programmes for schools, communities and visitors. You’ll design and lead activities such as guided walks, talks and events, support volunteering initiatives, contribute to major ANGUSalive events, and work closely with local educational and community groups, school and partners.

You’ll play an active part in caring for our Countryside Adventure sites, Crombie, Monikie and Forfar Loch, monitoring biodiversity, supporting conservation work, maintaining paths, facilities and equipment, and ensuring safe, enjoyable access for all. You’ll also help manage buildings, vehicles and site security, carry out maintenance tasks, and report issues as needed.

You’ll deliver excellent customer service by welcoming visitors, answering questions, educating them of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and the biodiversity of the sites, promoting activities and events, and responding to enquiries and feedback in line with our procedures.

Safety will be central to your work, being comfortable with identifying hazards, proactively dealing with them, and updating risk assessments. As well as, supervising public use of facilities and providing First Aid support when required.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about the outdoors, confident engaging with the public, through education, and motivated to support both people and nature across Angus.

Based at Monikie Country Park, but working across, Crombie and Forfar Loch Country Parks on a regular basis. Working on a rota which includes frequent weekend schedules as well as covering weekends across departments when required.
