About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our Localities Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with children, young people and families, providing practical and emotional support to help improve outcomes and reduce risk.
Working alongside social workers and partner agencies, you will play a key role in supporting families to build resilience, strengthen relationships, and make positive changes that promote children's wellbeing and safety.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct support and interventions to children, young people and families in their homes and local communities.
• Deliver planned support in line with children's plans, assessments and identified outcomes.
• Assist families to develop parenting capacity, establish routines and improve family functioning.
• Support children and young people to access education, health, community and leisure opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with social workers, schools, health professionals and other partner agencies.
• Promote the safety, wellbeing and rights of children and young people at all times.
• Monitor progress, maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews, meetings and assessments.
• Respond flexibly to changing family circumstances and emerging risks.
• Support families to access practical resources, benefits, services and community networks.
We Are Looking for someone who
• Has experience of working with children, young people and families.
• Understands the challenges faced by vulnerable families and the impact these can have on children.
• Demonstrates excellent communication, relationship-building and engagement skills.
• Can work independently whilst also contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Has strong organisational and recording skills.
• Is committed to promoting children's rights, inclusion and participation.
• Can maintain professional boundaries while building supportive and trusting relationships.
Essential Requirements
• Relevant qualification in Social Care, Childcare, Health and Social Care, Community Learning or a related field.
• Experience of supporting children, young people and/or families.
• Ability to travel across the locality area to meet service needs.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
