Job Description

Based at Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar.

This job is workstyle 5 - Hybrid+

You will have the opportunity to benefit from our flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from home for part of your week and spend some time in council buildings to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration.

As our Head of Policy, Strategy & Engagement, you will play a central role in setting strategic direction, strengthening governance, driving transformation and ensuring our communities’ voices influence everything we do.

You will lead a high‑impact portfolio spanning governance, strategic planning, policy, community engagement, communications, performance, the Council’s change programme, and internal audit and counter‑fraud. Working as part of the Corporate Leadership Team, you will ensure these functions work seamlessly across the organisation to deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes for the people of Angus.

We are seeking an inspiring, collaborative leader with a strong record in strategic management, public‑sector governance and transformation. You will thrive in complex environments, build strong relationships, support elected members and motivate teams to deliver exceptional results.

If you are passionate about public value and ready to shape the future of Angus Council, we’d love to hear from you.

For an informal discussion, please contact Ian Lorimer - LorimerI@angus.gov.uk

Please note assessment centre/interviews will be held early/mid March.
