Job Description
Based at Arbroath Academy, Glenisla Drive, Arbroath.
This job is workstyle 1 - Fixed.
In this workstyle most of your time is spent undertaking the direct delivery of front-line services work. Depending on your role there may be a limited requirement to access a specific council location during the course of the working week if you are not delivering your service at a council location.
In this position, you may be required to:
- Assist in ensuring that health and safety procedures in practical subject areas are being followed.
- Ensure visual checks are carried out on bunsen burners and gas taps (at least once per term) and of pressure vessels, autoclaves and steam engines (annually). Maintain a log of these checks.
- Assist in carrying out visual checks of electrical equipment as per council schedule and of all other electrical equipment excluding those under maintenance contract.
- Assist in maintaining an up-to-date inventory of all electrical equipment.
- Assist, as required, centrally based technicians in the testing of portable appliances.
- Comply with all departmental and council policy and practice on health and safety, eg section 9 of departmental administration file, technicians risk assessments and recipe cards for solutions etc.
