Job Description

Based at Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar.

As a Sustainable Transport Officer, you will work within the councils Transport Team, where you will drive and develop the delivery of two cutting edge transport technologies. You will lead exciting projects that drive the transition to net zero travel across Angus. From expanding electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, to improving demand responsive transport (DRT) services, you’ll manage projects from concept to delivery, making a real impact on how people travel every day. DRT is revolutionising access for people in rural Angus communities, and our expansion of EV charging infrastructure spearheading our ambition to develop greener, smarter communities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Project managing EV infrastructure development and major transport initiatives
  • Leading feasibility studies, design work, and environmental assessments
  • Managing budgets, funding streams, and contractor procurement
  • Developing and improving demand responsive transport services
  • Working closely with partners, stakeholders, and neighbouring authorities
  • Supporting innovation through technology and data-driven solutions

About You

You’ll bring a mix of technical knowledge, communication skills, and a proactive mindset, including:

  • A relevant HND/Degree or equivalent in a related discipline eg Sustainability, climate change or technology (Civil Engineering, Transport, Geography or Social Sciences
  • Knowledge of EV infrastructure and sustainable transport systems
  • Project management and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A problem-solving, organised, and self-motivated approach

This job is workstyle 5 - Hybrid

You will have the opportunity to benefit from our flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from home for part of your week and spend some time in council buildings to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration.
