An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Argyll and Bute Council as a Catering Assistant within Ardfenaig Care Home. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, contributing to the preparation and service of meals, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety and quality. You will play an important part in supporting the day-to-day delivery of the catering service.

This role is based within a local authority care home, providing a vital catering service for older adults. The Catering Assistant works as part of a small team, supporting the day-to-day running of the kitchen and working closely with care staff, residents, and families to help meet individual needs and preferences.

Key duties include assisting with food preparation and service, supporting stock control and basic kitchen tasks, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and safety in line with HACCP and Safe Food System requirements.

The role plays an important part in supporting residents’ health, wellbeing, and daily quality of life through the provision of safe, nutritious, and enjoyable meals.

You will be a reliable and organised Catering Assistant who enjoys working as part of a team and supporting the delivery of a high-quality catering service.

With experience in a residential or commercial catering setting, you will take pride in assisting with the preparation and service of meals, maintaining high food safety standards, and contributing positively to the team.

You will be willing to follow guidance on food preparation, portioning and special dietary requirements, and help to create a welcoming dining experience for residents.
