An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Justice Social Work Service to deliver an increased range of interventions to service users throughout Argyll and Bute. These posts will be aimed at enhancing the availability of diversion from prosecution, bail supervision and structured deferred sentences in remote and rural communities. The successful candidate will be motivated to increase the life chances of service users subject to Court disposals whilst contributing to community safety.

The role will involve working with men and women involved in the Criminal Justice System who have been made subject Bail Supervision, Diversion from Prosecution and Structured Deferred Sentence.

This will involving preparing reports to Court and Supervising individuals in the community supporting them to comply with conditions set by the Court; delivering interventions and addressing welfare needs that will reduce the risk of re-offending.

In this post the successful applicant will be a key member of a team in Criminal Justice Social Work that strives to manage risk and keep the community of Argyll and Bute safe.

The successful applicant should have a minimum of three Standard Grade Qualifications level 1-3, have previous experience of working with individuals or groups in a role that they have actively participated in providing support. They should be PC literate and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. The successful applicant will be required to gain membership of the PVG scheme in relation to working with protected adults and children. The job holder will also be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Argyll and Bute to meet the operational requirements of the service.

Desirable qualities include qualifications related to Social Care, Social Work or Youth Work and will have experience of working with offenders and other statutory and third sector agencies. A working knowledge of Community Payback Order’s and Social Work within the Criminal Justice System.
