We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Social Care Worker to join our caring and committed team. Working within our residential service for older adults, you will help ensure residents receive safe, high-quality care while supporting and developing colleagues. This is an excellent opportunity to progress your career in a rewarding leadership role.

Argyll and Bute is one of Scotland’s most stunning areas. As its award-winning council, we play a vital part in the day-to-day life and long-term future of our beautiful and diverse communities. Our unwavering purpose is to make Argyll and Bute the place to be, the place where people want to live, to work and do business. And we are committed to making the council the place to have a great career, by providing excellent benefits and a friendly, dynamic working culture so that each of our 5000 colleagues can deliver services that help our corner of Scotland thrive. Join us to make a difference.

As a Senior Social Care Worker within our 16-bed residential care service for older adults, you will play a key role in supporting residents to live as independently, safely, and comfortably as possible. Working in a homely care environment, you will provide direct support to residents while leading and supporting a team of Social Care Workers to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

On a day-to-day basis, you will work closely with residents, care staff, the Unit Manager, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure individual care needs are met and care plans are implemented effectively.

The role also involves supporting medication management, risk assessment, safeguarding, staff supervision, and maintaining accurate records. You may regularly liaise with GPs, community nursing teams, allied health professionals, and other external agencies.

This role makes a meaningful difference to the lives of older people in Argyll and Bute by helping residents maintain their dignity, wellbeing, independence, and quality of life, while ensuring the service remains safe, supportive, and responsive to their needs.

We are looking for a caring, motivated, and compassionate individual who is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care for older adults. You will have experience of working in a care setting, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to lead, support, and motivate a team.

You should hold, or be willing to work towards, an appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care and be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), in line with regulatory requirements, or hold nurse qualification and be registered with NMC. Experience of medication administration, care planning, risk assessment, and staff supervision would be advantageous.

You should also have a good understanding of safeguarding, promoting dignity and independence, and delivering care in line with relevant legislation, standards, and best practice.

Our employees make good things happen in the day-to-day life and for the longer term future of Argyll and Bute. We want you to feel valued working for us. We offer various benefits to support you, such as a competitive salary, pension scheme, generous leave entitlement, cycle to work scheme, discounts on gym memberships and leisure centres, wellbeing initiatives, and opportunities for learning and career growth. We also embrace a modern approach to work, offering a flexible first approach where possible to requests from our employees to how they work.

We care about our people and the world around us and always aim to do the right thing. From employee recognition schemes to environmental policies we have many initiatives in place to help us look after the things we all care about.
