The updated National Child Protection Guidance 2023 has widened the scope of child protection, at the same time as policy imperatives including the Scottish Child Interview Model and the Bairns Hoose place additional responsibilities on the service. Additional management capacity specifically directed at this role will increase performance across the National Minimum Data Set including supporting the implementation of Data Set version 2.

The successful manager will lead a team of reviewing officers, and will implement a model of regular audit and performance improvement work across social work child protection and partner agencies.  Reporting to the Senior Manager and Head of Service, the role will include leading the continuing implementation of the Scottish Child Interview Model, working with partners in West Dunbartonshire and Police Scotland L Division. The manager will also contribute to the service’s quality assurance data reported to the Child Protection Committee. Working in partnership with the Lead Officer for Child Protection and partners across all agencies in Argyll & Bute, the postholder will lead improvement in child protection partnership working across agencies.

The successful candidate should hold a Diploma in SW or equivalent, have extensive child protection practice and management experience, be able to evidence an understanding of practice and organisational performance improvement and be able to lead and manage change.
