Asbestos Officer (Tenant Safety - Housing Service)
Waverley Court
Salary: £40,501 - £47,639
Hours: 36 per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Asbestos Officer to be appointed to a post within the City of Edinburgh Council Housing and Homelessness Services and to join the Housing Services Asbestos Team. This is a hybrid role, which will require the post holder to meet with the rest of the team at least once a week in our Edinburgh Office. You will also often be required to attend meetings with contractors or carry out inspections in various locations throughout Edinburgh.
The post holder will support the Asbestos and Water Quality Manager in all aspects of asbestos-related statutory compliance and manage associated works in accordance with legislation and our internal Asbestos Management Plan, policy and procedures to ensure business continuity, efficiency and safety across the estate. We are looking for a team player with various asbestos work-related experience, with interest in project, contractor and data management, as well as passion for health and safety and quality control. You must also be able to deal with the public and have effective communication, reporting and IT skills.
You will organise and inspect asbestos works, engage with various City of Edinburgh Council departments and projects, manage asbestos removal and analytical contractors, and ensure appropriate information is provided and retained in our database. You will also get involved in incident investigations, carryout audits, non-conforming work investigations and other checks to ensure the integrity of our methods and compliance with our systems. You will also often engage with colleagues from different departments to provide advice, information and training.
If you would like to take on this new opportunity and join our team and have skills demonstrating our behaviours - respect, integrity, and flexibility as well as extensive experience of creating a high performing culture, driving change and service delivery, we would love to hear from you.
