We are looking for a motivated Assistant Building Surveyor to join the Low Rise - Area Based Regeneration (Mixed Tenure Improvement Service). This innovative service tackles essential repairs and maintenance in mixed-tenure tenement blocks across Edinburgh
About the Role
You will support the delivery of fabric repairs, maintenance, and energy efficiency improvements to common parts of buildings such as roofs, walls, stairs, and external wall insulation.
Working under the Building Surveying Manager, you will help organise and manage projects that benefit both Council tenants and private homeowners, improving neighbourhood conditions, reducing disrepair, and enhancing energy efficiency
Key Responsibilities
Assist with building surveys, inspections, condition reports, and technical assessments.
Support project delivery, including stakeholder liaison (owners, residents, contractors), tender processes, contract management, and site activities.
Contribute to option appraisals, risk management, performance reporting, and ensuring high standards of customer service and compliance with legislation.
Help develop and improve service processes in this expanding programme.
Ideal Candidate
Relevant qualifications or working towards a Building Surveying degree.
Interest or experience in building pathology, repairs, project coordination and working in a public sector or housing context.
Strong communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders, including in sometimes challenging situations.
Organised, with good IT/numeracy skills, and able to undertake site visits (including working at height/outdoors).

This position is subject to Basic Disclosure check.
