The Edinburgh Convention Bureau (CVB) is entering a new phase, with renewed ambition to grow high-value, sustainable business events for the city. This newly created role offers the chance to define how the CVB goes to market, securing business that delivers long term value for Edinburgh.
In this high-impact role, you'll attract and convert national and international conferences, corporate events, and incentive travel, delivering real economic growth for the city. Working within the Edinburgh Convention Bureau Service, you'll lead proactive sales, craft winning bids, and build strong partnerships to position Edinburgh as a world-class, sustainable, and accessible events destination. Fast-paced and ever-changing, this sector offers the chance to create opportunities, make connections, improve the lives of local residents, and deliver measurable results.
The Business Events Sales Lead will be an experienced business events and destination sales professional with a strong understanding of how to generate, qualify and progress high-quality business event leads to maximise economic and social impact for the city. The role focuses on proactive lead generation, bid support and stakeholder collaboration, working closely with city partners to support the conversion of opportunities into confirmed business.
The post holder will demonstrate strong relationship-management and influencing skills, enabling them to work effectively with event planners, venues, academic and industry partners, and other city stakeholders to position Edinburgh competitively and support successful outcomes. They will be adept at managing complex enquiry pipelines, forecasting potential economic impact, and providing accurate, timely intelligence to partners and senior stakeholders.
The successful candidate will act as a confident ambassador for Edinburgh in national and international markets, championing sustainable, fair work, inclusive and responsible business events principles throughout the sales process. They will bring strong communication, organisational and analytical skills, a disciplined and data-led approach to performance management, and the flexibility required to operate in a dynamic, partnership-led, public-sector environment.
If you're an experienced business events sales professional who thrives on building relationships, winning business and delivering measurable results, we'd love to hear from you. This role offers the opportunity to apply your sales expertise to a purpose-driven team, supporting fair work, Net Zero ambitions and sustainable growth while helping secure high-valued business events for Edinburgh.
We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone feels valued and able to be their best.
