Business Growth and Inclusion Contract and Programme Manager - Fixed term until 31/08/2025
Waverley Court

Salary: £50,550 - £60,506
Hours: 36 per week

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Employability Manager. You will be part of the Business Growth and Inclusion team who are responsible for managing business support and employability services across the city, delivering on the Council's business plan priorities and the Scottish Government's No One Left Behind ambitions.

Part of the role is also to oversee our contracted and grant funded employability delivery - the team is currently awarding over £4m worth of contracts to third sector organisations, delivering projects ranging from support for those at risk of leaving school and not securing a positive destination, to support to those who have additional barriers such as a disability or long-term health problem to longer term support for individuals who have suffered from homelessness, involvement with criminal justice or are in recovery from substance misuse.

Edinburgh has a very well-established employability strategy, overseen by the Local Employability Partnership, which brings together a variety of statutory and third sector organisations to help people progress into and in employment. You will be an integral part in this network and actively contribute to the continued development of the city's employability strategy.

Leading a small team of staff, this exciting role requires someone with the knowledge, skills and experience to ensure that services contribute to our key priorities, contracts are delivered, targets are met, reports are submitted on time, and our delivery partners are proud to be part of Edinburgh’s employability landscape

From overseeing the delivery of Edinburgh Project Search and the continuous development of the Edinburgh Guarantee, through to planning services to support those with barriers to employment and managing co-production and commissioning, there will never be a dull day.

The role will be suited to someone with an existing understanding of the relevant policies, strategies and issues driving employability, who has an appetite for developing creative solutions and a passion for working in partnership.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
