Commercial and Procurement Services performs a critical role, working in collaboration with the whole of the Council's operations, to ensure that we achieve value for money whilst balancing cost, the delivery of citizen or service outcomes and our wider responsibilities, including: sustainability, community benefits, fair work practices and the development of a vibrant local economy.
To join our highly professional and award-winning team you will require extensive procurement experience and the project delivery skills necessary to succeed.
These roles have direct responsibility for leading the delivery of complex capital procurement projects. This involves project planning, stakeholder engagement, analysis, compliance, terms and risk management as well as supervising/mentoring junior staff, ensuring they are given full opportunity to develop. Projects range from public realm enhancement to new housing developments and Schools.
You will need to be well organised, have good attention to detail and possess credible technical, commercial, interpersonal and communication skills as well as relevant experience to ensure positive engagement with stakeholders and successful, timely procurement delivery.
This is a challenging and fast-moving environment to work within, so you will also need to be professionally and personally resilient, collaborative, creative, adaptable, responsive to change and, importantly, recognise the key role that procurement plays in enabling the Council to deliver better outcomes for citizens and the City of Edinburgh.
It is essential that candidates have experience leading construction procurement projects and can demonstrate a solid history of delivering complex public sector procurement projects successfully utilising a range of procedures.
Candidates should have achieved or be willing to study towards becoming MCIPS qualified.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
