Hours: 18 per week, 52 weeks
Pennywell Early Learning and Childcare opened in August 2024. This exciting new centre for providing high quality learning experiences for children and families is part of the MacMillan Hub. MacMillan Hub is a community focused, collaborative location which will provide a range of services for the local community through partnership working with North Edinburgh Arts and the relocated Muirhouse library.
We are now recruiting an experienced Early Years Officer to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting children to be confident, capable individuals and helping them to achieve their full potential. Our officers will be skilled at monitoring the quality and impact of our environments, planning and interactions with children and will be proactive in developing and supporting their teams to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children in our care. They will know their children and team members as individuals and learners and will model excellent communication skills and effective deployment of team members to meet children's needs.
The successful candidates will be required to work shift patterns within the setting, between the hours of 07.45hrs and 18.00hrs, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, with some late shifts on rotation, within each month.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years proven, post qualifying experience in an Early Years setting and relevant experience of working with parents and carers.
Please note - You must ensure that you have one of the following qualifications before you apply:
- SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 7
or - HNC Childhood Practice

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
