Early Years Practitioner
Gilmerton Primary Primary School

Salary: £28,046 - £32,010 (pro rata for sessional)
Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Monday - Thursday: 8.00-4.15, Friday: 8.00-1.00

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the successful candidate within Primary 1 to support continuity of learning for children across the early years/primary level and to provide support for play pedagogy within primary 1.

The successful candidate will have opportunities to be creative and imaginative within the Primary one setting. They will work collaboratively as part of the school team and all stakeholders to develop, implement, monitor and review effective policies, procedures and practice in a climate which promotes equity and excellence in the Primary setting.

The following experience would be desirable:

• Experience of using floor books for planning

• Experience of leading and managing initiatives within an early years/school setting, including loose parts play and outdoor learning

• Froebel trained/experience of the Frobelian approach.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
