Household Support Worker
Household Support & Advice Team
Salary: £34,452 - £40,501
Hours: 36 per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for several posts across all localities within the City of Edinburgh Council's Household Support team. A service with a broad and varied remit, Household Support takes an innovative approach to responding to and preventing anti-social behaviour and wider societal issues including homelessness, poverty, access to education and community support utilising a 'No Wrong Door' approach.
At its heart, Household Support is a preventative and early intervention service which seeks to address the root causes of anti-social behaviour and family breakdown by offering a range of holistic supports, including housing support, family support and mediation as we contribute to preventing homelessness.
You will work closely with individuals, families, groups, communities and partners to promote a restorative approach to neighbour disputes, social inclusion, and community involvement.
You will work systemically with individuals, families and communities to understand and promote positive change and promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of children, families, individuals and communities.
Offering a person-centred, outcome focused, intervention to all age groups including vulnerable adult clients as well as families who may have children of a pre-school age part of the household, you will draw on the principles of Getting It Right for Everyone in undertaking assessments and develop SMART action plans to support people to achieve positive outcomes, maintain tenancies, tackle inequality, isolation and poverty.
As such, this post is suitable for candidates who have an interest and experience in promoting resilience in communities by supporting vulnerable people whose issues may range from experiencing or causing anti-social behaviour, are at risk of homelessness, struggling with parenting skills or are in financial hardship.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone feels valued and able to be their best. We particularly encourage applications from women for senior roles, as well as people from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities or neurodivergent people, care experienced people, carers and LGBT+ people across all levels of the organisation, all of whom are currently underrepresented.
