Community library locations across the South West of Edinburgh - Oxgangs, Wester Hailes and Currie, Colinton, Balerno libraries Starting
Salary: £24,064 - £26,468 (pro-rata for part time)
Hours: 17 per week

Our libraries are at the heart of our communities and our dedicated staff teams provide book lending services and library based activities for everyone of all ages, encouraging a lifelong love of reading and enjoying books. For young people we provide Bookbug for the under-fives, class visits and after-school book groups for primary school children, and dedicated evening and weekend support for teens. Our adult visitors are provided with a great offering of titles to read across traditional and digital platforms, ongoing IT support, groups to engage and interact with and specialised library support for the elderly.
Our library service is always evolving and we look forward to discovering new ways to work with and support our communities. Successful candidates will be involved with the delivery of activities and services to all of these groups, supporting their team to further develop these relationships and enhancing our provision to the community. Candidates should ideally have some experience of working with the public and be able to demonstrate excellent customer service, and an ability to communicate with a wide range of people. Candidates should also have some basic computer skills such as using word processing software, creating spreadsheets, using printers and other work-related equipment, or looking up information online.
If you feel you can be an effective team player in a service that puts our communities and their people first, please apply. These permanent vacancies are offered in a variety of locations in Edinburgh’s South West. However, successful candidates will be expected to work in any of our libraries across the setting within the Edinburgh Library Service area.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
