Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) offer the chance of paid employment combined with the opportunity to do training relevant to the occupational area. They also include the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications.
The Licensing Service in Edinburgh issues over 25,000 licenses and supports applicants and businesses to understand their obligations across a diverse set of activities such as taxis, private hire cars, liquor licensing, private renting, market traders and more. It is a busy, customer facing service, and the successful applicants will get the opportunity to work for different teams within the service, across our two locations.
As a Business Administration Modern Apprentice you will be required to assist in the provision of a range of support services for professional and office activities to achieve service targets and quality customer care.
Eligibility
Applicants must have left secondary education in the past three years (2023, 2024, 2025 including those about to leave this year); or currently be on a City of Edinburgh Council employability training programme; or be aged up to 29 years of age with a disability; or be up to 29 years of age if care experienced/a care leaver.
Applicants must have at least three National 4 or 5s
or equivalent qualifications in a relevant business related subject areas. e.g. English, Maths, Business Studies, ICT or Communications.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
