Sighthill Depot
Salary: £65,184 - £77,845
Hours: 36 per week
The City of Edinburgh Council's Neighbourhood Environmental Services department has a senior leadership opening, with responsibility for the delivery of Waste Collection and Systems
As members of the senior leadership team within the service, you will be expected to work collaboratively with your peers within the service and other Council departments to deliver high quality services and better outcomes for residents of Scotland's Capital City. You will be expected to drive forward service performance, support collaborative working within a one Council approach, and work to support the financial stability of the service to address short, medium and long-term financial challenges. You will also have responsibility for the leadership and motivation of a large frontline workforce.
You will have responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of one of the services and provide empowerment and support to staff below to help them flourish and continue to make a positive difference to the services we provide to residents.
We are seeking two visible and forward-thinking leaders with excellent communication and personal development skills. You should be able to demonstrate a track record of success in a role of a similar nature within a complex organisation.
A strategic approach and vision to deliver change, service improvement, development and implementation of policies, partnership working, financial planning and people management skills together with a strong customer focus is essential.
In return, we offer you a stimulating but challenging role, where you will be rewarded with a competitive salary, a minimum of 32 days annual leave rising to 40 days with length of service, a generous employer pension contribution and access to a range of employee benefits.
Applications are encouraged from individuals who believe they can successfully apply their leadership ability to the challenges we face and the successful delivery of strategic outcomes now and in the future. We are open to a conversation about flexible working but the majority of time will be depot/office based.
We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone feels valued and able to be their best. We particularly encourage applications from women for senior roles, as well as people from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities or neurodivergent people, care experienced people, carers and LGBT+ people across all levels of the organisation, all of whom are currently underrepresented. All applicants will be considered fairly based on skills and experience. Disabled and care-experienced applicants who meet the minimum job criteria will be guaranteed an interview.
