Occupational Therapist (Children's Occupational Therapy Service)
ATEC24 Service, Kings Haugh, Peffermill, EH16 5UY

Salary: £37,626 - £44,257 (pro-rata for part time)
Hours: 18 per week

We have 1 part-time permanent position available to join the Children's Occupational Therapy Service in Edinburgh.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Children's Occupational Therapy Service.

Our team focuses on a child’s home and school environments to assess where potential changes can improve participation and wellbeing. We work in partnership with the child, their parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support the child within their environments. Our team’s aim is to improve quality of life, reduce risk, increase a child’s independence wherever possible while supporting the family by providing equipment and/or adaptations at home and school. Assessments are generally in relation to the provision of specialist equipment (seating / bathing), minor and major adaptations, moving and handling and housing needs assessments.

The post will require you to: work as an Occupational Therapist undertaking a range of occupational therapy services including assessment and care management of service users’ needs to children and young people with disabilities who are resident within the City of Edinburgh, and also for young people who are looked after and accommodated by the City of Edinburgh Council. Deliver occupational therapy services in accordance with current legislation, Council procedures and standards.

The post holder will be required to participate in the delivery of a responsive and needs led service, ensuring that the appropriate safeguards are in place. Promote effective multi-disciplinary working with other disciplines aimed at providing a good level of service to service users. Work as part of a multi-agency team to build capacity of schools to meet the needs of learners in relation to accessibility and support these young people accessing education.

City of Edinburgh Council are currently going through a service review. It must therefore be noted to potential candidates that structures and posts may be subject to change

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
