Participation Officer - Care Experienced Young People

Salary: £24,064 - £26,468 per year

We are a care experienced individual who believes that young people can make transformative change happen in their lives if given the opportunity. The post-holder they will have the ability to support and mentor young people to take part in the decision-making processes that affects their lives.

This is an exciting opportunity to promote corporate parenting within the City of Edinburgh ensuring that the voices of care experienced young people contribute to policy and practice across services. We want outcomes for Looked After Children to be as good as they are for all children in the City of Edinburgh.

the post-holder will be able to utilise your community engagement skills to create new partnerships and relationships or develop existing ones. They will be able to help young people form helpful relationships and create opportunities for participation and engagement activities with care experienced young people.

The Participation Officer will support and develop the work of the Champions Board and promote corporate parenting to deliver real change for children and young people. This post will be involved in a range of activities which will include training, awareness raising, working with partners and delivering regular groupwork opportunities for Edinburgh’s care experienced community.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
