Principal Teacher
Braidburn Special School
Salary : £52,896 (pro-rata)
Hours: 17.5 per week (Monday, Tuesday & every second Friday)
Situated in the south-west of Edinburgh, Braidburn School provides a supportive learning environment for learners with additional, complex support needs aged 3 to18 years old.

Braidburn benefits from on-site multi-disciplinary therapy and medical teams in addition to our education staff. This helps our learners achieve their full potential.
As Principal Teacher you will be a core member of the school’s leadership team and will have delegated operational management responsibility for curricular and pastoral areas of work in addition to teaching an assigned Primary or Secondary class. You will model the highest standards of learning and teaching and will inspire, motivate and support colleagues in the development of their own classroom practice. You will have excellent pedagogical knowledge of learning and teaching and a depth of exemplary teaching experience, including relevant experience supporting learners with complex additional support needs.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
