Pupil Support Assistant
Castleview Primary School (North East Edinburgh)

Salary: £25,905 - £26,111 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)*
Hours: 27.20 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Castleview is looking for committed and enthusiastic individual to work collaboratively as members of the school team assisting in meeting the educational, care and welfare needs of all pupils across the school ensuring those with additional support needs can effectively access their learning in an inclusive, safe and nurturing setting with every opportunity to reach their full potential.

This post involves supporting pupils across our school and nursery who may have complex physical, developmental or emotional needs. They will provide support and assistance in the day-to-day operations of the school such as playground support, small group/one to one support work with children or as directed by the Head Teacher or nominated staff to enable pupils to fully access the Learning & Teaching across the curriculum.

* Note - Please read the sessional working information attached to this advert. This explains how salaries are calculated for sessional (term time) and part time posts.

PSAs do not work during the 12 weeks of school holidays, however total salary is paid in 12 equal monthly payments, over the year. There are also opportunities to work in a holiday hub provision during the school holidays for successful candidates looking to work during the school holidays.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
