School Support Assistant - Fixed term until 29/06/2027

Hours: 35 per week, 39 weeks sessional

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic person to join our team, to contribute to the continuing development & delivery of high-quality education at the school.

The role will specifically support a disabled teacher with limited mobility in day-to-day teaching. Duties will include general classroom support, photocopying and helping to set-up equipment for classes. Candidates must also be able to evidence their experience of working with Primary-aged pupils with identified Additional Support for Learning needs.

The working hours are likely to be Mondays to Thursdays 07:45 to 16:00 (less unpaid breaks) and Fridays 07:45 to 13:00.

  • The support assistant needs to help with resourcing lessons such as completing photocopying, obtaining materials from elsewhere in the school for the Teacher.
  • The support assistant needs to be able to respond to pupil needs, supporting dysregulated pupils to return to class from Support for Learning base.
  • The support assistant may need to supervise a pupil group for small amounts of time.
  • The support worker needs to support the teacher accessing areas within the school.
  • The support worker needs to help set up the Support for Learning base for specific interventions.
  • This will likely involve carrying books and manipulatives to the Support for Learning base.

  • The support worker needs to be able to note-take during meetings, and summarising key decisions back to Teacher.
  • Staff Meetings - The support worker may need to support to ensure the teacher has copied all relevant data from the meeting into teacher's diary correctly.
  • The support worker may need to support teacher to complete agenda items if they require resourcing or organising.
  • Assist teacher with marking
  • The support worker would need to carry any resources/marking to/from support for learning base to teacher's transport.
  • The support worker will show flexibility in supporting the teacher throughout the day, responding to their needs, as required.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
