Justice Social Worker (Children’s Worker) – Domestic Abuse Service
Grindlay Street Social Work Centre

Salary: £37,626 – £44,257
Hours: 36 per week

We offer a high level of training to support continuous professional development and to deliver a broad range of interventions, including established, accredited, group work programmes.

This social worker post, located within Domestic Abuse Services, will work across Justice Services (men’s and women’s services) based at Grindlay Street Court Social Work Centre and the Women’s Justice Centre. The post holder will recognise the importance of working with perpetrators and the right for men to have an opportunity to change their abusive behaviour. They will evidence a strong commitment to multi-agency approaches, applying the Safe and Together model.

The work of Domestic Abuse Services is informed by a knowledge and understanding of complex trauma and its impact.

The post holder will undertake a wide range of tasks including:

• Advocate for children whose fathers are involved in Domestic Abuse Services.

• Contribute to the work of the Domestic Abuse Services, liaising closely with colleagues working with men and women to assess and manage risk and to appropriately share information relating to this.

• Manage an agreed caseload, including parenting work with fathers and mothers and, in some cases, providing direct work with children.

• Co-facilitate groupwork (including Caledonian Men’s Programme) and training.

• Compile joint risk assessments and plans, using tools which assess the risks to children from domestic abuse, using specific assessment tools including: Safe and Together Mapping, the 8 wellbeing indicators, the ‘My World Triangle’ and the Resilience Matrix.

• Provide professional assessment and opinion, including recommendations, in report form and participate in multi-agency meetings.

This post provides opportunities for the post holder to be involved in the developmental work in relation to promoting the rights of children and young people impacted by domestic abuse.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
