Supervisory Assistant (Dining Room) - fixed term until 26/06/2025
Gracemount Primary School

Salary: £24,346 - £24,646 (pro-rata for part time and sessional)
Hours: 7.5 per week, 38 weeks sessional

Monday to Thursday 11:30am- 1pm (1.5 hours per day over lunch period)

Friday 10-11:30am (1.5 hours organisation of packed lunch delivery to children's classes)

The successful candidate will provide supervision to children during non-teaching times, namely when eating lunch in the classroom, the dining room and/or in the playground. We have a friendly team of staff in the dining room, who work together to try to enhance the lunch experience of the children.

The post holder will be responsible, under the direction of the Business Manager or Head Teacher or such other officer as may be designated by the Authority, individually or as a member of a team, for securing the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils during the midday break period in accordance with the practices and procedures of the local authority.

Duties will include:

- Supervision of the pupils during lunch period, playground areas and school premises

- Ancillary associated duties (e.g. cleaning up spillages, ensuring tables are clean etc.)

- To ensure the maintenance of good order and discipline.

- To promote the nurturing ethos of the school and foster good relationships with pupils and staff.

- Encouraging children to eat a healthy lunch, and to eat their lunch before heading outside to play.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
