Firrhill High School
Salary: £36,159 - £54,453
Hours: 35 per week, 52 weeks
Firrhill High School serves the area of South West Edinburgh. In partnership with our five associated primary schools Bonaly, Colinton, Longstone, Oxgangs and Pentland, we strive to "Provide learning opportunities of the highest quality." Our school values are founded on respect for self and others, tolerance and support.
We are one of the largest schools in Edinburgh with a roll of 1300 pupils and 130 staff. This provides us with the opportunity to provide a wide range of curricular, interdisciplinary and extracurricular activities that meet the needs of all of our pupils. We also provide opportunities for personal achievement and support pupils to develop skills for learning, work and life.
We are looking to recruit teachers to join our dedicated staff who will be ambitious for all our pupils and are committed to supporting our young people to develop to their fullest potential.
All staff benefit from a well-structured and responsive Professional Learning programme where staff are encouraged to both develop their own practice and to actively share their expertise with colleagues. We place a particular emphasis on developing leadership capacity at all levels. Firrhill is a Gold Rights Respecting School and we place children's rights at the centre of our practice. This contributes significantly to our school ethos of inclusion, diversity, tolerance and friendship where excellence for all and excellence by all is our constant ambition. The work of the school is supported by an active Parent Council and Parent Teacher Association.
Art is very successful at Firrhill with large numbers of pupils studying the subject through to Advanced Higher level and progressing to art-related further and higher education courses. Additionally, both Fashion & Textiles and Photography are popular and successful courses. We are looking for a dynamic and innovative teacher to join this highly successful team and to continue this track record of success and build upon it further.
