Transport Technician
Waverley Court
Salary: £32,010 - £37,626
Hours: 36 per week
To support cleaner air and people switching to using electric vehicles, the City of Edinburgh Council is overseeing the development of two ambitious programmes/contracts to help reduce harmful emissions associated with road transport: electric vehicle charging infrastructure and ‘car clubs’ (vehicle sharing partnerships).
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Network Management and Enforcement for the permanent appointment of a performance driven Transport Technician to support the planning, development and delivery of both these programmes/contracts.
Fulfilling a key role within the Parking Development team, the successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic and will be able to progress a challenging and varied workload, with a primary focus on supporting the Senior Transport Team Leader and two Transport Officers with all aspects of analysis, planning, contract development/management, project management and oversight of delivery and performance of both programmes/contracts.
Main activities will include building and maintaining working relations with a range of multi-disciplinary colleagues and stakeholders at a range of seniority levels, gathering information/insight, contractor and stakeholder coordination, analysing data and reporting performance, responding to customer enquiries, public and stakeholder engagement and taking an active role in supporting the team on a day-to-day basis as required.
The successful candidate will be able to maintain high levels of accuracy, and to balance competing priorities in order to meet challenging deadlines. They will have excellent written and verbal skills and be able to explain complex, technical project information to a wide audience.
If you enjoy new opportunities and challenges, are keen to learn, develop and show initiative, and have the skills to work as part of an established and forward-thinking team, we would love to hear from you.
For more information on these programmes please see www.edinburgh.gov.uk/electricvehicles and www.edinburgh.gov.uk/carclub or for additional role information please contact steven.murrell@edinburgh.gov.uk
The role offers an excellent pension package and leave entitlement.
We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.
To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page Our Behaviours – The City of Edinburgh Council
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
