Transport Technician (Active Travel) - Fixed term until 11/06/2026
Waverley Court

Salary: £33,287 - £39,129
Hours: 36 per week

An opportunity has arisen within the Council's Active Travel team for a fixed term Transport Technician post to cover a maternity leave based at the Council's Headquarters, Waverley Court.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to undertake this challenging but highly rewarding role. You will be part of a team designing, managing and co-ordinating small projects associated with Edinburgh's ambitious City Mobility Plan. Specifically, the successful candidate will manage the design and delivery of the City-Wide Public Bike Parking scheme and the Modal Filters programme. This is an excellent role to develop your career within a roads and public realm design, construction and project management environment.

The successful candidate should have good knowledge of how to use AutoCAD or similar CAD software, GIS and have good communication and organization skills. They are expected to work independently with support from other team members and line manager.

The role also involves responding to public and elected members' enquiries about Active Travel related projects received to the team's public mailbox.

Our forward-thinking and carbon-conscious approach to project delivery allows innovative individuals to flourish and the successful candidate will be encouraged to influence the future direction of their work, whilst operating under the Council's wider sustainable policies.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page Our Behaviours - The City of Edinburgh Council

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.

Happy to talk flexible working.
