Workshops Team Leader
Fleet Services

Salary: £36,312 - £42,717
Hours: 36 per week

The City of Edinburgh Council are looking to recruit a Fleet Workshops Team Leader to join the team. Reporting to the Workshops Manager, the Fleet Workshops Team Leader is responsible for managing a team of Skilled Vehicle Maintenance Technicians providing the full support service for maintaining all of our Council Fleet from 26T refuse collection vehicles supporting our waste service to small cars and vans catering for Housing Property or Health and Social Care.

You will have significant experience of operating within a customer facing workshop environment and possess the skillset and ability to manage a team of skilled staff on a day to day basis. Decision making is key for balancing the workload, managing vehicle breakdowns and ensuring service continuity for our frontline services. You will be fully aware the health and safety requirements of maintaining a Heavy Goods Fleet.

Demonstrable understanding of operator licence requirements would be advantageous. You'll coach, develop and inspire everyone in your team to perform at their best every day and you'll guide by example and you will always prioritise safety first.

In return we can offer: - Starting salary of £36,312 rising to £42,717 on a contract of 36 hours per week. - 26 days annual leave plus public holidays rising to 35. - Access to a lucrative defined benefit company pension scheme.

Please see attached documentation for further information about the role.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page Our Behaviours – The City of Edinburgh Council

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
