Job Description

Deliver an essential role providing a high standard of cemeteries management in a respectful and compassionate manner.

Receive, answer and deal with face to face enquiries, telephone calls, emails and correspondence from members of the public, elected members, stakeholders and other staff members in order to provide accurate information and excellent customer care.

To prioritise & programme workload and allocate adequate resources.

Ensure all staff are adequately qualified and trained in the tasks they are required to undertake.

In association with the Land Team Leader, be the first point of contact for workforce disciplinary & grievance issues.

Procurement of resources in compliance with Council procedures.

Assess if available resources are sufficient to carry out projected workload

To instruct and supervise burials staff and Contractors.

To programme Burials teams daily work in and ensure that work is carried out professionally.

To take responsibility for the health and safety of the squads, contractors and members of the public  visiting or working within the cemeteries.

To be able to communicate the purpose and method of works with members of the public as well as the workforce to ensure the smooth running of works on site.

To complete paperwork relating to the working hours of staff,  plant and materials and to order materials, as required.
