Job Description

To prepare for, chair and ensure accurate and timely recording of multi-agency Child Protection Case Conferences and Looked After (and Accommodated) Child Reviews. To ensure that there is effective inter-agency decision making about children and young people in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

The Independent Reviewing Officer will facilitate and chair Child Protection Case Conferences and LAAC reviews to ensure robust planning for children and the production of good quality SMART focused plans.

The Independent Reviewing Officer is accountable for decision making process at Case Conferences regarding the registration of children and young people in line with multi-agency Child Protection procedures and statutory requirements.  The post holder has a key role in quality assuring assessment and decision-making in operational practice. The post holder is required where appropriate to challenge practice at a range of levels across agencies.

The post holder will have a key role and responsibility for the organisation, chairing and outcome of statutory reviews of Looked After and Accommodated Children. They are accountable for the decision making process at a LAAC to ensure robust planning for children.

To participate in the development of strategic and practice issues including quality assurance and self evaluation.
