Job Description
FIXED TERM UNTIL 31/08/2027.
The main purpose of the post is to support children/young people with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) and their families.
The support provided will be responsive to the needs of the child/young person and will be flexible and well planned to meet their needs within education establishments, family homes and the community.
The expectation is that the post holder will be flexible in their working hours to accommodate support to children and families outwith the school day. The nature of interventions will vary dependent on the needs of the individual, family and school.
The Support Assistant will play a key role in delivering inclusive, person-centred support for children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), across Clackmannanshire. This role supports the Council’s commitment to flexible, place-based, and collaborative approaches to meeting learners’ needs.
The post holder will work closely with schools, families and multi-agency partners to co-create tailored support packages that address individual needs. They will contribute to the development of a pilot ASD team model and help ensure positive outcomes for learners through innovative and responsive practice.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and / or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. You will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Clackmannanshire Council. Further guidance will follow in your conditional offer of employment on how to apply. Please note you will be required to pay for the cost of this application if your salary is over £38,000 per annum, which will be deducted from your first pay.
