Library Assistant, Stornoway Library (11420)
11 hours per week, fixed term to 16 March 2027
£8,989 to £9,075 per annum, pro rata (inclusive of £891 Distant Islands Allowance per annum, pro rata)

The postholder will assist in providing a high-quality library and information service to adults and children in Stornoway Library. Duties will include providing frontline customer service, issuing and returning library materials, supporting users with digital resources and enquiries, maintaining library stock, and assisting with the delivery of reading programmes, activities, events and promotions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, together with the ability to provide a high standard of customer service. You should have a good general education, an interest in books and reading, and experience of using databases and Microsoft Office applications. The ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative, together with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, is essential.

The post will involve a 5 hour shift every Saturday, the days that the remaining 6 hours per week are worked is negotiable.

Interviews will be conducted in person, providing candidates with the chance to personally meet the team and experience our work environment.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
