Marine Planning Officer, Stornoway/Balivanich
37 hours per week, Permanent Post
£48,622 – £52,635 per annum ( inclusive of £2,997 Distant Islands Allowance )
Adhering to the RTPI Code of Professional Conduct, the post holder will process and assess applications for development in the marine environment, provide planning advice to the public and implement and facilitate delivery of associated projects. You will also be required to draft, prepare and present reports for Committee and, when required, undertake the role of Planning Adviser to the Local Review Body and the duties necessary to defend Comhairle decisions at planning appeals, hearings or public inquiries.
You should have clear knowledge of the Marine Planning opportunities and challenges arising from the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 and related regulations and legislation.
You must hold a marine planning qualification (to degree level) and/or Hold Full or Associate Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute with proven experience of a significant breadth and depth in Development Management work.
You will have good interpersonal, listening, negotiation, verbal and written communication skills.
You should be willing and able to attend evening meetings and on occasion, be away overnight.
This role requires a full UK Driving Licence.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
