Settlement Officer, Uist
37 hours per week, Fixed Term for 12 Months  
£36,430 - £39,362 per annum, inclusive of £2,997 Distant Islands Allowance per Annum

As the Settlement Officer you will be the main point of contact within Comhairle nan Eilean Siar for people seeking to relocate to and take up employment in the Uists and Benbecula and to support them to overcome any challenges or barriers they face. This will include providing information on accessing local services, joining local networks and guidance about life within an island community. The postholder will also be responsible for promoting the benefits of relocating to the area and for supporting resettlement initiatives.

You will have an understanding of rural lifestyles and the key issues of working and living on an island or remote area. You will also have Knowledge of the key economic, social and environmental issues impacting the Uist communities.

You should have the ability to communicate effectively with service users from a variety of backgrounds as well as ability to manage a diverse workload with associated deadlines and reporting requirements.

You must at least three years’ experience of working in an Economic Development or related environment, and experience of working with a range of stakeholders including the public, businesses, community groups and/or public sector partners.

The role requires a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade with annual incremental progression.
