We’re now looking for a Building Facilities Assistant (also known as School Janitor) to join our friendly, supportive team at Kirkcudbright Academy. This is an excellent opportunity if you’re seeking term-time, family-friendly work in a role where your contribution is genuinely valued.

 

About the role

 

You’ll be part a dynamic, customer facing facilities team, providing essential janitorial and cleaning support to help keep the school safe, clean and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors.

 

Your duties will include:

*Carrying out general cleaning and janitorial tasks to a high standard

*Supporting daily building safety checks and health & safety procedures

*Assisting the Lead Occupier with safe operation of the premises

*Supporting energy efficiency and responsible building usage

*Liaising professionally with all staff and service users

 

You’ll work both independently and as part of a small team, using a proactive, organised, and methodical approach.

 

Working Hours

36 hours per week

7h 12m per day Monday- Friday

52.14 weeks per year

 

This post is fixed term for up to 12 months.

 

This post may be suitable for secondment.  Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.

*Good communication skills are essential

*A current driving license is required (reasonable adjustments will be considered)

 

Important information

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
